The Best Pinks to Celebrate Valentine’s Day

By 02/14/2011January 26th, 201729 Comments

Honeysuckle is Pantone’s colour of the year and if you have been dying to paint a room pink, here are some good ones to try:

BM Razzle Dazzle (source)

Just this past week, I specified this colour for a client’s powder room. I told her that last year I still would have toned this colour down if someone wanted pink but now that colour trends have moved towards clean and bright colours, this is exactly the one you should paint your powder room. It’s fabulous in this entry paired with black, white and gold.

This pink is quite saturated but it works because of all the wainscoting and heavy painted white woodwork in addition to all the artwork that fills the walls. Careful, on it’s own without all the white and art to break it up it would look pretty bubble gum pink!

Suzanne Kasler; Glidden Checkerberry
This one has more purple in it, and it’s very pretty with the yellow beige chairs and rug.

Hope you are celebrating the day with someone you love!

BM's 'Mellow Pink' is perfection for those who crave the hint of perfect peony pink but don't want a saturated babyish pastel. Used it in my recent closet makeover !

I've never been especially into pink, but the February House Beautiful totally made me question my assumptions. There were so many awesome pink rooms! I'm not sure if I'll be able to convince my husband, but I've daydreaming about a pink ceiling lately…

  • Roses @ StrictlyRoses says:

I find pink to be a tricky colour to use in a room, but when done right it can so chic.

I so want to paint a few accent walls Pink in my condo… now my hubby is usually a cool dude about decor but he said no! 5 times during our conversation on the subject… guessing it just will not happen, disappointed me….

  • I've never used pink but I love looking at what others do with it. I must say, what speaks to me more is that fantastic orange chevron on the chair in the first image. Love it! Have a Happy Valentines Day 🙂

  • Bruce Barone says:

I wore a pink shirt and a pink tie to church today.

  • Tamara Nicole says:

Ohhh I love the bright pink! Wish I could do a room in that shade, but it doesn't really match our Italian theme:-)

    Have a great Valentine's Day!!!

  • Naturally Carol says:

When I was a teenager in the seventies I painted my bedroom a deep dusty pink teamed with a pale pink, magnolia trim and black accents in the room too. I loved that room. Now I love flowers with multiple pinks together but don't really like pink walls in a living area.

  • Ideezine says:

    Maria,

My two year old niece's room is a bright pink and white she loves it. I've seen the inside of shelves in a closet painted pink and it was really neat. Just enough for those not fond of pink.

    Happy Valentine's Day!

I put Benjamin Moore's Fairest Pink into a small guest bath. It's a beautiful shade, but I picked it mainly because it complemented the pink in the guest bedroom's artwork.

  • Dovecote Decor says:

Hi Maria: I used the same picture (1) in my silly Valentine's post today. Pink never went out for me. I use it more sparingly now. I've had 2 pink dining rooms, and a pink bedroom!

I recently painted a chair in BM's Fashion Rose 1356. It looks really purpley on the chip, but looks raspberry pink on the piece. I'm typing from that chair right now!

  • My House, My Garden says:

I must find a place in my home to splash some pink – (Besides my daughter's room) – all of those beautiful shades and your raspberry is still my favorite!

  • Donna says:

Those are very nice pinks, Maria, and they look great…in someone ELSE's house. Ha!

I will never say never but I can't imagine actually painting any wall pink. I LOVE those flowers and I love pink as an accent color…but can't imagine big areas of pink. It was very interesting to see how that bubble gum pink was toned down with the art and accessories. That makes a lot of sense.

Very interesting lesson on pink! :o)

PS. Would that you lived next door and I could glean from your leftover fabric. Wouldn't I have such a fun time? But I'd just as soon have you as a neighbor and scrap the fabric…

BTW, I've got lots of pillow ideas floating around in my head but am not willing to start sewing until I can really concentrate on it. Doggone estate taxes!! I just can't give myself permission to do those pillows until the taxes are done. Sigh..

Love Razzle Dazzle but can't find it in the BM paint colors. Is it only found in the USA?

  • Anonymous says:

I used BM Gypsy Pink on one wall and the remaining walls gray in my daughter's room with gray/silver accents. I also painted her dresser in BM Valentine's Day. Turned out great!

  • Enyonam says:

I am completely and totally blown away. I must confess pink isn't really my thing, however seeing how well you have put it together has truly given me something to think about and rightly to say never say never 🙂

    Gorgeous,

What an inspiring collection of eye candy. I LOVE pink!
    Thank you for sharing.

    Happy Valentine's Day Maria!

    Maria– Happy Valentine's Day!

Sorry, not one to paint a wall pink, but I have pink accent tiles in a bathroom to deal with.

They are similar in shade to Martha Stewart Lupine Pink paint, and I am having the worst time trying to work with this color!

  • Kristen says:

I'm going to paint our laundry room Behr's Sugar Berry, it's a very, very light shade of mauve.

  • Loretta Fontaine (APPLESandRUBIES) says:

Maria– A question. For those folks like me without Pantone cards, what BM shade comes close to this favored Honeysuckle? I've heard Lilac Pink 2074-40.

    Could you let us know?

    Loretta

  • Loribeth says:

I am seeing pink rooms everywhere since Pantone announced Honeysuckle as the color of the year. I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them, but I'm afraid I'll just have to admire them from afar–at least until we get a new house with a room I can make all my own!

    Hi, Maria.

I hope you had a great time yesterday! 🙂

I like this color, but wouldn't use it on a wall. Maybe accessories, like pillows, throws, vases. No more than that at my place. 🙂

I'm loving this post because I'm getting ready to move my 2 year old to a "big girl" room from her neutral nursery, and I'm wavering on what color to paint the walls. I'm tempted to go really bright pink now, maybe BM Peony? I would do most everything else white, but do you think that is too crazy?

I always think paint is the easiest thing to redo if she or I hate it in a couple of years! Hmm, light or bright pink- this is a tough one! Loving these pictures!

  • Lesli DeVito's Blog says:

Do I love Pink! I just dedicated an entire blog entry to my face color- PINK! A few years ago, i decided that i 'wanted my dining room pink. But I no more wanted my pink dining room to make me look like I was a "pink lady" than I want to have owning a cat to make me a "cat lady". I finally decided on Benjamin Moore's "Pink Cloud", which coincidentally is one of BMs Spring/Summer colors 2011. It is beautiful and honestly when used right, pink can actually work as a neutral. In fact, yesterday i stumbled upon my pink dining room featured on the house Beautiful Website!!!

I love the name Checkerberry and the color is lovely. I like Razzle Dazzle with the blue and white vase and gold accents. Hmmm, two more gorgeous colors to consider for my update on our powder room. Thanks for the color treat of this post!

  • Babs Loyd says:

Since our powder room has golden beige tile floors, white cabinets, white tiles and trim, the Checkerberry picture inspired me to go for that color. I even have a crystal and gold chandelier to add in. Thanks, Maria, you are a love!
