The Best Mother’s Day Flowers

By 05/08/2011April 19th, 202113 Comments

I’m quite sure it doesn’t get any better than an arrangement picked by your 3 year old.  The other day my sister was outside with her two boys (1 1/2 and 3 1/2). William picked 3 dandelions, gave them to Elizabeth and then proceeded to pick 3 stems of grass and a horsetail to add to his ‘arrangement’. So of course I had to snap a quick photo to show you too!

My sisters and I took my mother out to a fabulous little Inn in Agassiz for high tea today. There was a large dining table which they had set up at one end just for the four of us. This was the view outside (below)!

During brunch we were having a conversation about generosity. Lea told a story she had heard about a woman who had MS and was in a wheelchair having a conversation with Cheryl Richardson. Cheryl said, “For 30 days you need to give of yourself every single day.”  She replied “Why I can’t do that, I’m sick, I can’t even take care of myself!”. Nevertheless she proceeded to take the coaching and found a way to do it. On the 29th day, she actually walked out of her chair. Cheryl also said “If you want to have more money, tithing is the way to have more”. People who give live longer than people who are at the receiving end.

I’ve decided my mother should be very rich, very soon. She is the most generous and forgiving person that I know. When my mom is around, she does not tolerate gossip, she’ll listen for about 2 minutes and then she’ll say “My stomach hurts, let’s talk about something else”.

Thanks mom for the example you set for us every day!! I love you so much! xoxo Maria

There is a site "29 gifts" and it is true, when one gives miracles happen. Mothers are miracles who inspire us to give and be our best!

What a lovely way to celebrate your mom! I know you all had a wonderful time being together in such a beautiful place.

The dandelion bouquet is precious. It reminds me of one of my favorite songs…which reminds me of my three sons…It's called "Dandelions". I did a post about this song last year…

    Maria,

Thanks for sharing your personal day that is truly generous. I am a giver, receiver, with hugs, kisses, lots of patient listening, offering words of encouragement etc. I always feel people are so vital to us all. We are one large family.

Blessings Maria you take after your Mom.
