Did you know I’ll be speaking on the main stage at the Calgary Home + Design Show September 21 & 22, 2012? Then I’ll be at Vancouver’s show too on October 11 – 13, 2012.
Jill Kivett the show manager in Vancouver asked me a few months ago. I immediately said yes of course. Amanda Haines the Publicist for the Vancouver Home + Design Show invited me to the preview party last night which was held at Park Royal.
I was so surprised when I walked into the media lounge and there I was, larger than life! So I had to get a picture to show you.
What do you think of my cute striped dress on the heels of my blue post from yesterday. It was $19.99 at Joe Fresh. A great price for a dress I won’t be able to wear again now that you’ve seen it here, haha. I’m just kidding.
My good friend and kitchen designer Jan Romanuk was with me, here she is on the left.
I should have taken a few more photos with other celebrity guests but I think I was a little in shock that I appeared to be one of them.
I’m very excited to be presenting, it’s been a dream of mine for a long time. Make sure you come and see me, mark it in your calendars so that I have some friendly faces in the crowd!!

Congrats on achieving another dream, Maria! I too wished I lived closer so I could come to see you. But I wouldn’t worry too much about needing friendly faces in the audience – with your wide-open, approachable and happy personality and your right-on but practical, user-friendly knowledge of and application of color, you should have bunches of potential new clients and converts to COLOR. In some ways you remind me of David Bromstad from Color Splash, the first (and only in my books) winner of HGTV’s Design Star. The enthusiasm you bring to working your passion combined with your openness to and awarenes of your client’s needs and desires that keeps you from taking yourself too seriously – that’s great. And I think Heather’s right – you’ll be on HGTV one day too if that’s in your dreambook.

Do you speak at shows like this every year? I would love to go to one of these interior design shows in Calgary to get some ideas for my kitchen. I have finally decided that the seventies look has to make way for something more modern. Any ideas on what colors I should use?
