Where I’ll be in May & Some Must-Read Posts

By 05/02/2012January 28th, 201717 Comments

On Mothers Day weekend, I will be at the Pure Painters Booth at the EPIC show at the Vancouver Convention Centre West. Here’s what you’ll find at the show:

– Sit and listen to visionaries, thought-leaders, musicians, artists and even comedians

– Eat and drink your way through 90,000 sqft of local and organic goodies

– Shop for hours for the freshest fashions and beauty products

I will be there:

Saturday, May 12 from 1:00 – 5:00 pm and Sunday, May 13 from 11: 30 – 3:00 pm.

Look for their booth, it will be in the above colours! Come join me for a libation and bring your colour and design questions!

Then May 21 – 23rd I’ll be in New York for Blogfest 2012. I’m arriving Sunday morning prior to the event and leaving Wednesday night. No time to stay and hang out because then the following weekend I’ll be moving!

It was so great last year to meet new bloggers and hang out with all the friends I’ve made on-line.

Speaking of friends, here are some great posts you should read:

1. Best Colours to go with Pinky Beige

Great post by True Colour Expert Kelly from Restyling Home. Here she’s using her large colour samples, which are must-have tools for every serious colourist/designer.

2. Decorating Mistakes Real People make by Taking Design Ideas Seriously

This post is over a year old but it’s very funny and deserves to be mentioned.

3. Beautiful Kitchen Before’s & After’s by my good friend & True Colour Expert Traci Zeller

4. What Nobody Tells you about Using Natural Stone Slab

Don’t miss True Colour Expert Ellen Rhett take on countertops.

Ellen recently wrote a post called “What a Colour Consultant can do for my Home?”

After going through True Color Expert Training with Canadian color expert Maria Killam, something that was not in me before, actually became a wired-in part of my visual understanding. Have you ever heard someone say, “The lightbulb in my head went on” ? That is exactly what her course did for me. It turned on a lightbulb of understanding undertones of colors, and of how to achieve visual harmony through common undertones, color flow, focal points, and repetition. The rhythm of a home. That’s what I do.

My True Colour Expert Workshop is coming up June 6, 7, & 8 in Toronto and we have finally found a location! The course will be held at a location 10 minutes from the Yorkdale Shopping center and 20 minutes from downtown. It’s more than half full and the early bird savings of $300 ends May 6. The course is $1,500 but will be $1,800 after that. Register now to save your spot!

    Hi Maria.
I was wondering if you offer another set of color boards other than the neutrals / whites set. I noticed a large color board sample in your first post (Paladian Blue) and thought I may have missed something.

    • Maria Killam says:

No the first set of boards I sold included some blues but then I changed them all to neutrals because they are the hardest to work with. Maria

    Love your blog!

I’m confused by the New York picture from Pinterest though – that’s a picture of Italy, not NYC.

    • Maria Killam says:

It certainly is now that I look at it, the Pinterest photo said it was New York, thanks for pointing that out.

  • Carol Reich says:

    Hi Maria,

      HI Carol,
I would email Traci directly from her blog, I’m sure she’ll be happy to give you the source. Maria

Love, love your blog! Redoing a master bath and want to know your thoughts on drop down vanity make up area. You know the area usually between
double sinks where one would sit. Is this outdated?
Otherwise my counter would be super long and have a seam in granite. Thanks for your advice-you are always right. Jacqueline
