    Maria,

Great as we are outside more to notice the exterior and texture surfaces of many things and colors.

I get so wrapped up with interior colors I hardly notice the exterior! I'll keep my eyes open for more colorful posts on it.

Why are exterior colors so difficult. It seems that change even more than interior colors once they go up! Can't wait to hear your great advice on this subject!

A house in my town should have followed these steps. They built a Victorian style home with gorgeous architecture and painted it YELLOW! Not the beautiful, buttery, rich yellow. NEON! What a waste of a gorgeous home!

Maria- I just discovered your blog and I love it. I have a very hideous color scheme on my exterior right now-all the wrong moves. Dark teal trim, yellowish stone, white stucco, light brown asphalt roof, and orangey-wood front doors. Not sure what to do. I can't afford to repaint entirely right now, and so I'd like to just repaint the trim and front doors. Any advice? Thanks.

  • Maria Killam says:

    Hi Ann,
How about a dark brown to relate to the roof? You can't do black (which would be my first choice) because your roof is not black but brown would work.
    Hope this helps,
    Maria

    Hi Maria,
I am very much looking forward to your newsletter.
When painting a front door, is it wrong to paint out the sidelights and surrounding trim and possibly the storm door in the same colour as the door?
My front door is a mess right now and needs a good ‘facelift’ including its hardware.
Love your ebook! Thanks for being there.

It’s not wrong but not every house can handle it. If you think your’s can than go for it! Maria

Hi Maria, I need your opinion. We are painting our 2.5-storey 100-year-old Victorian-ish house Comox
green from Vancouver historical True Colours palette:

Trim colours will be something creamy without being yellow and a red. I like Benjamin Moore Caliente. What do you think of this combo? Any suggestions for the creamy white?

Good Morning, Maria – I so love this house and also all the beautiful front doors in the 10 best front door colors. Will you consider a post about storm doors? We really feel more comfortable (safe) in our city row house with a storm door, but I really dislike our current door. How does one choose a storm door color? Our porch light appears to be bronze, but i think is really aged brass and our front door hardware is brass… Thank you so much. I am learning a ton from your posts!

Getting ready to paint the exterior of our lake house. I don’t have a clue. It is a driftwood color on cedar at present. Need help!
