Photo Shoot for My New Website (including the Bloopers)

I think people always like to see a work in progress, which this shoot was. In the end I didn’t end up even using these pictures of me anywhere in my new website.

The Hottest Trend in Backsplash Tile for 2011: Yay or Nay

Some commenters informed me that this accent tile had been around for a few years already but to me it was suddenly everywhere, not to mention totally OVERUSED, so I called it trendy for 2011. Actually I think it’s more of a fad which has a much shorter shelf life than a trend.

How to Choose Paint Colours: It’s All in the Undertones

The best of Colour Me Happy is definitely now in my eBook. If you choose colours for yourself or clients, understanding my system for distinguishing undertones will save you hundreds and/or thousands of dollars in mistakes. Plus, as an extra bonus you will get my “go-to” list with all the undertones listed in categories.

Here is a review Barb from Tassels Interiors just posted after she read it:

The book is FABULOUS!!!

I have been reading your blog for the last couple years, and have always wanted to attend one of your workshops, but have been unable.  This book has been very helpful in answering some of my questions in regards to recognizing the undertones, and applying this information to specifying colors for my customers.  I feel much more confident in my selections for customers.  Thank you for describing your system clearly and concisely.  I am looking forward to your other books.

Hope you are having a happy holiday week with your family!

  • Thanks for the recap, Maria. Although I have read all these postings originally, it was good to go back and review. I am going to paint my old dark kitchen cabinets and that bedside table after re-reading your post on painting furniture.

Hope you have a wonderful end to 2011 and a Happy New Year.

How about some fabulous ideas to deal with the dreaded, all beige rental apartment. Beige walls, awful/cheap beige wall-to-wall carpeting, beige linoleum squares on bathroom and kitchen floors. I hate my all beige apartment!
I’d LOVE to have a white, white, white space!

I built a new house . Your site saved me a LOT of turmoil. Everything looks fabulous. Right down to my white kitchen. I can’t tell you how much grief, the contractor, spouse, trim installer, tile installer, cabinet maker, gave me about that white kitchen! When it was all done, they are in awe. The architect wants to put it in an article they are doing on kitchens. I couldn’t have stuck to my guns without your words of wisdom. My cabinets are white with a med gray accent, my walls are BM intellectual gray, countertops are titanium granite (beautiful). I had the trim color matched to my cabinets. My backsplash is an offwhite with a gray undertone. behind the stove is pure white and off white harlequin with a braid border. I wish you could see it. I owe you all the credit. Oh yeah, the floors are a wide plank hand scraped espresso hardwood. NO cfls!
