I’m so excited that my townhouse in Vancouver (before we moved out to the country) is featured in Small Room Decorating Magazine!

Here’s the closet in my Tiffany inspired office that I converted to this colourful space! The before & after photos can be found here.

And of course my sunflower yellow sofa. I just realized I don’t think I ever actually posted the ‘before’ photos of this space, I will have to do that soon.

And the playful guest room. My favourite part of this room was the Dr. Seuss book all laid out on the wall. Here’s the before and after photos including how I installed the vignette above the bed.

I’m off to change my fall pots from Mums to something wintery! Have a great weekend everyone!

  1. Congrats on the article, Maria! It is fun to go back and revisit your townhouse. You made it so colorful and cozy. I know your design tips will inspire the readers.

  2. Congrats! This article is lovely! I am absolutely in love with your sofa. Would you mind sharing where you got it? That yellow is to die for!

    • Hi Carolyn, I had the sofa custom made and the fabric is a 50/50 cotton/poly velvet, bullet proof! My mom and I scrubbed it with a scrub brush and a bissel and got it clean after dust had made it look dirty along the top! Maria

  3. Congratulations, I was excited to see your home in the magazine, I felt like I had seen the “premiere” through your blog.

  4. That is so excellent!

I know I speak for others when I say how proud we are of you, and how excited we are to watch your hard work turn into such successes!

    You GO, Maria!

  5. Congratulations, Maria. As I mentioned in my previous post, I came upon your article by accident when I picked up the mag for the “work those walls” pictures. Finding your article was such a delight and I actually enjoyed it again last night before, coffee in hand, I clicked on your blog this morning. But I’d forgotten that the goal of getting published in a national mag was the first on your list for the year. Quite an accomplishment and just the first of many publications in which you’ll be featured, I’m sure, but a great one, along with Better Home & Gardens and similar mag, that focus on real and achievable rooms. I always find tons of inspiration, even for things I wasn’t specifically looking for as I did in this issue. I think this will be a great tool to use in your consults and your efforts to empower your clients to choose color with confidence or fearlessly or whatever new tag line you decide on. Great work!

  6. You are such an inspiration to me and I just wish I had known about you sooner. I think I would have chosen my bedroom furniture with a different outlook. It is what it is and I’m happy that I can continue to be inspired by you:)
Your home gives off a truly HAPPY vibe:)
    Thanks and congratulations!

  7. Maria- I am so excited for you!! Can’t wait to snap up a copy of Small Room Decorating! You continue to be such an inspiration to me, and obviously so many others. Every day, I use the lessons that you have taught and continue to teach. Thank you!
