Six things about me

By 02/22/2009October 8th, 201720 Comments

I’ve been tagged by Tiny White Bungelow and I’m to write 6 things about me and then tag 6 other people. So here goes:

1. I am in love with cute little faces, happy faces mostly. And the funny thing is I didn’t even realize this until I came home last year with yet another ‘what not’ with a smiley face.

This candleholder with the dancing mice I fell in love with in a little gift shop in San Francisco when I was there two years ago. They just looked happy to me and I had to have them.

Over the years my taste in art has changed and I have bought new pieces (and given away old ones) but this piece that I bought in the 80’s with the kids in the rain still makes me feel happy whenever I look at it. (and I live in rainy Vancouver so it fits)

I bought this silly little thing (I don’t even know what it is) a few years ago cause I loved his face!

2. Even though I’ve been in the colour business for 10 years I didn’t really start wearing colour until last year when I learned that I was a summer and should be wearing turquoise, soft pinks, periwinkle blues and pastels. (In the winter it’s harder to find those colours though so this year I still wore a lot of black, brown and cream).

3. I have hiked down and back up the Grand Canyon all in one day, and I’ll never do it again!

4. The single most powerful course I have ever completed in my life was The Landmark Forum 11 years ago. It changed my life (It’s the course behind the career I have now instead of the selling-my-soul career I had in corporate) and nothing thrills me more than when someone I know participates. The question behind all of their courses is this one:

5. I was raised a vegetarian. I did not eat fish or meat until four years ago my mother (who is practically a Naturepath) called me and announced that we were not getting enough protein in our diet and that we should start eating salmon.

And because I do everything she says (with regard to health) shortly after that I was in Costco and I happened to be flipping through a book that said ‘People that add fish (especially salmon) to their diet notice such an improvement in their skin that they start eating it even more’. I walked straight over to the canned salmon, bought 12 tins and never looked back!

6. I’m bossy but in a charming way. Really. It’s true. Ask anyone that knows me 🙂

Now that Victoria and I know how the “6 Things’ works, we’ll get started on our post — look for it late Monday or early Tuesday 🙂

OMG, I hiked the grand canyon in 1 day too. My legs were like useless by the end of the day. I love the cute faces thing. You are so cool!

When I read your first paragraph about picking 6 more bloggers to tag, I thought ‘I hope she doesn’t pick me!’ Then, as I was reading your 6 things, I forgot about that thought until I got to the end. First let me say that I enjoyed reading your 6 things, in particular the one about being a vegetarian and adding salmon to your diet. I would love to be a vegetarian, and may do it one day, but it is hard when feeding a family of 5. Alas, I made a salmon dinner last year that turned out SO badly (and I am a decent cook) – I think the smoke detectors went off because I scorched the whole meal – so now my children cringe when they hear the word ‘salmon’.

And second, I have never done a ‘tagged’ thing, but I will definitely put some thought into it and maybe just send it to you!

Thanks for the wonderful, inspiring blog.

did the salmon help your skin? just wondering!

  • Colour Me Happy says:

Well I started eating salmon cause I’m vain so reading that in the book was all it took!! But I’ve never had issues with my skin and I drink a lot of water anyways so I can’t say I really NOTICED a difference.

    hey hon…

about your MAC blogging issue… well, i can’t speak from a point of switching from a pc to a mac, so i won’t say it’s way easier… but as you well know, i am new at this blogging thing, and so i’ve just learned to do it from scratch from my powerbook and i find it extremely easy.

    so let’s talk! 😉

  • guylaine rondeau says:

What is this Landmark course… could you tell us more about it? Why was it so special to you?

  • Bonnie says:

The little smiling giraffe is soooo cute! 🙂 I have a MAC too and am just learning how to blog. I just use their blogger… it’s ok but seems like it could be much better. Your blog is fabulous! Thank you so much for your excellent posts!

  • Terri Windemuth says:

Maria, These are old posts, so hopefully you get this. I loved your 6 things…I also went to Landmark Forum for 2 years. You are right…one will never be the same. We get down to our very core and there is no pretending who you are. Being authentic is very refreshing. It is really hard work. You strike me as such a happy person.

By the way, the web picture of you in aqua is stunning.

Something to try for your cough. I had one for 2 years and couldn't shake it. I became allergic to cow and goat milk. Once I removed milk, ice cream, and cheese, the cough was gone. My family was astounded. Worth a try, our bodies do funny things.

Let me know if the dairy reaction worked for you. Happy Easter

    Terri W.
