I really, really wanted to give you the tour of my house from the photo shoot 3 weeks ago and Christmas but Tracy Ayton, my awesome photographer, sent them into a national magazine and they are going to be published, hooray! I’ll confirm who it is very soon!

So all I can do is give you a sneak peek now of my Christmas Tree! I do have another very special holiday tour coming up on my blog which you’ll love!

My Holiday Tree 2013

My Holiday Tree 2013

I’ve been a wrapping and ribbon Christmas elf for 2 weeks, I’m exhausted. To wrap presents so they look perfect together takes a lot of work, I just want you to know.

Remember I told you I installed hot pink drapes in the living room to go along with my sunflower yellow sofa? Well here’s a glimpse of them as well.

Sorry I can’t show you more! Gotta run, it’s snowing and it’s only supposed to last one day and I need to build a snowman with my nephews!

Happy Weekend my lovelies! xo Maria

That’s very pretty Maria. I haven’t seen a tree in that color scheme–so unique!

  • Livia says:

Oh… the anticipation! This sneak peak is wonderful Maria, a very happy and beautiful tree.
I am waiting patiently for this mystery magazine…

  • Angela Taylor says:

You have such exquisite taste:) Love seeing your gorgeous decorations, especially as I was not able to have any of my own this year due to our move. Next year I’m going all out!

  • Love your new look and loving the Raspberry and Orange scheme!

  • Linda Leyble says:

Hi Maria…love the color scheme! Would not have thought of that! I still have to decorate my two trees. Been very busy working out in the Hamptons – doing a design on an entry floor – so my back and my knees are killing me. Will be nice to be upright for awhile!

Beautiful color for those drapes! Mine are soft pink silk in my living room – you are gutsy!!

    Linda

    • The Hamptons! So perfect. BUT, your comment reminded me of a story I love to tell at smart dinner parties. It happened at a Hampton’s, ‘Elle’ event I attended as my daughters guest, while visiting her in NYC. I bought new platform shoes (haven’t worn heels since the eighties but I didn’t want to be walking under my girl’s nearly 6′ armpit, soooo). Just as we reached the end of the ‘red carpet’ (lining a very, long white-stoned driveway) my ankle twisted and I dropped to my knees. Luckily, the photographers were mostly still inside the grounds shooting the Elle folks. My daughter promptly dug my flats out of her bag and I never wore those shoes again. :))) I love telling that story.. hee hee.

    Hi Maria,
If my Christmas decorations looked that pretty I would have to leave them up till Spring.

  • Monique says:

It’s gorgeous Maria I love the colours and can’t wait to see the article! Merry Christmas!

  • As an interior designer I just love your upbeat blog and I hope to start my own Interior Designs Matter blog soon. Congrats on being published that is always very exciting news.

  • Awesome job – especially the unique colour combination! This is definitely not “luck”, this is the result of a BIG commitment to design planning, tons of hard work, pursuit of perfection, & investing in professional photography. Well done, Maria. You inspire me to reach higher.

  • Maria,
Don’t you love how you can do almost anything against a white canvas and it looks fabulous? I love the co-ordinating hits of pink and ‘yellow’ around the room and under the tree .. so ‘happy’ and uplifting.
    Merry Christmas!!

  • Mariko says:

Maria, this is a beautiful room and a fabulous colour combination. You are so talented and inspiring. Merry Christmas !

  • sandyc says:

Such a happy tree! I think, with the hot pink drapes as a background, that tree is never going to want to leave. So eager to see all, in the secret mag and in your blog. Super job, Maria!

  • sandyc says:

Even though the tree and the drapes are not in the same room, they’re aware of one another and delighted with the acquaintance, I’m sure.

  • Kelly says:

I’d have called it raspberry and clementine but whatever you choose to call it is FABulous. 🙂 Happiest of holidays to you. Looking forward to 2014 and more inspiration from you.

  • Babs Loyd says:

I posted your tree and Santa with the hot pink drapes to PinIt because they are so cheerful. Your color sense is terrific. I laughed out loud over your comment about it taking two weeks to wrap gifts to match your tree! I can relate. Please give the source for the drapes. I hope you and your nephews made a fun snowman—share pic’s please.

  • Jennifer Smith says:

Maria, I live your non-traditional Christmas colors. I, personally am so bored with red and green! Can’t wait to see your new drapes. Merry christmas and thanks so much for your blog.

  • Betsy OShea says:

M, i am confused about the layout…the tree is in front of the shelves w National Geo mags to rite of fireplace in the LR so is that a Den w the cream sofa and orange pillows? Where is the yellow sofa? Almost seems like first photo was reversed? Your DR is to right of firplace. Right?

  • Betsy OShea says:

I mean your DR is to left of fireplace

  • Kathi says:

EEEE Gads, Woman! You make me feel like a lazy gal with my dollar store bags shoved under my mediocre tree-hehe-but hey, I love your tree and presents, beautiful to look at-thanx for posting and can’t wait to see your tree in a mag!! Merry Christmas M & T !!!!

  • Such beautiful happy colors! Can’t wait to see the magazine! Mele Kalikimaka!

  • Barbie Winter says:

Soooooooo pretty! Have a Merry Christmas!

  • Annie says:

Gorgeous!!! Love the hints of gray in the wrapping.

  • Vernah Fleming says:

Maria, as usual everything looks spectacular! What I’m really interested in are your awesome end/coffee tables made of branches? I want a birch end table really badly, and yours though I don’t’ think birch are gorgeous.

  • joann says:

Stunning! What fresh and colorful decorations. Where did you get the area rug?

  • Janie says:

Maria–beautifully stunning. I agree with another writer, I’d leave the whole thing up till Spring!

Wondering, is that a real tree or artifical? If artifrical, I would appreciate source info.

Merry Christmas-you’ve done a spectacular job of decorating!
    Janie

  • amyks says:

Colour me happy is right! I love, love, love your tree and your living room, too! Happy, Happy Christmas to you>

  • Vered Rosen says:

I love your color combination. It looks so fresh and updated, and I much prefer it to the red/green combo. The living room looks fantastic! so airy and soft. can you share where you got those pretty round side/ coffee tables and the rug from? lovely!

  • mrsben says:

So much prettier than the one that I have seen which is made out of (shards) of bone China that sales for a mere …… $50,000.00. ☺ -Brenda-

  • Susan Telfer says:

So pretty! Maria, I remember in an earlier post about curtains that you said your family room curtains in your family room (first picture) are a Robert Allen fabric that is a check that looks like stripes. That sounds like the Robert Allen (green) check I have chosen for curtains in my home, but my window person said I cannot have the stripes horizontal because of the width of the fabric. How did you do it? (Or maybe it is just a different fabric.)
