Are Natural Fiber Rugs Neutral?

I am so thrilled to be guest posting at Cote de Texas where she also reviewed my ebook today!

I received this question a while ago and since one of Joni’s signature looks includes seagrass rugs, I thought it would be a perfect guest post for blog. Check it out here.

One of my favourite posts that Joni wrote was about the type of furniture you need to have that is totally timeless and outlasts the trends year after year. Whenever I get this question from a reader or a client, I send them over to read it.

Joni’s blog is so fun to read because she is real. She’s not afraid to call a spade a spade and her not-to-be missed posts are stuffed full of wonderful images and fabulous advice about everything from light fixtures to curtains.

So, are natural fiber rugs neutral? What do you think?

Maria, came on over from Cote de Texas and really excited to discover your blog as the last three colors of paint I have purchased for my apartment haven’t turned out anything like I imagined. And while paint is one of the cheapest ways to transform a room, when you paint your walls again and again its no longer an inexpensive solution. 🙁 I’ve been looking around your blog but am unsure where to start, any way you can point me to a couple of really good posts?

Hi Maria, I just ordered/downloaded your e-book and am so excited to delve in! Thank you for the wonderful offering via Joni’s Cote de Texas! Your blog has been a great resource and I am sure you book is going to help me in my home and I will be able to help my clients when they are staging their homes for sale, or picking colours for new construction etc. Have a great day! xoxo, Ivy

How can you tell if a seagrass rug will fade to another color? I need a greeney grey natural rug – prefer seagrass – and don’t want to end up with a golden one. I have the revere pewter paint that you suggested I go with about a year ago in a consultation. Should I try another fiber that may have that tone? I really like jute, but all I’ve seen are more light golden. I can see what you mean in your post, but I’m not sure how to go about this now if the seagrass rug may change. Help! LOL! I’m confused what to pick now!

My new seagrass area rug has sage green in it. I wanted a taupe/khaki color. How long does it take for rug to change from the green to the warmer brown color?

Yes that is exactly right, it’s why I recommend you follow along with a Benjamin Moore fan deck. Maria
