A Sherwin Williams Turquoise Guest Room

By 09/08/2010January 23rd, 201729 Comments

The client that I’m helping with the dining chairs just finished painting and decorating his guest room. It was so fabulous I asked if I could take some photos.  The colour is SW 6936 Aquatint.

Love the way the feathery bird coordinates with the curvy mirror. You can’t have too much white with turquoise! Mirror from Chintz & Co.

The pop of orange is really fun too! Cushions from Pier 1.

The focal point of this room is the row of artwork on the right because it’s the first thing you see when you walk into this room.

A white headboard is still coming for this room.  it’s a wonderful space for guests to come and stay in the city!

Do you have any turquoise in your house yet?

Yep, I do 🙂 Actually, it's on the front of my house — I just painted the front door CIL Peacock Plume 🙂 It's bright & happy and I love it!!

The vignette on the night table is sweet 🙂

Feels so beachy. Not yet, but I will. For sure in the new house. I love how dark woods look with it.

It is a pretty color but would need a color that is more timeless in my home. I gravitate towards the classic colors. It would be great for a kids room – so much energy! SW has some amazing colors. Pretty.

    Very pretty

I made my first pajama shorts. I actually made two. I wear them to bed every night. I am so happy with them. I should probably make some pants soon as it the weather will start getting cold. Hope you'll come take a look. By the way, I am turning 10 this weekend.

I love that color! I have a lot of turquoise in my home & I love it! My living room, halls & kitchen are all open & all a dark turquoise – it's fun and totally me 🙂

A very pretty color and bedroom. The white headboard will be the icing on the cake! Hope we get to see pictures.

I have more turquoise now than I ever dreamed I would. My go-to color has always been green! I guess that the next closest thing.

    Maria,

Nice snaps. Turquoise is a great mood enhancer and it's happy. This room is perfect for guests and the white has a punch of freshness to it.

I would love to stay in a guest room like that. I have turquoise on our walls in the basement – mixed with orange accents as well. I'm glad to know others like that combo.

  • Wilbur says:

Since this is my guest room of course I'm a bit biased! 😉 Lovely photos Maria – it is always such fun working with you! This room used to have a murphy bed and the walls were an off white. I wanted to create a "beach" feeling. Even though it is a small room the turquoise gives it an airy feeling and getting rid of the murphy bed was a good decision! The headboard is being custom made and will be in white ostrich.

About a year and a half or two years ago, I repainted our dining room from BM Moroccan Red to BM Spring Rain, a lovely soft turquoise. I know red is more popular for dining rooms but our room is on the smaller side and just never felt quite right painted red. Being a casual dining room, the turquoise just fits. I'm so happy with the room now! It's so pretty and cheerful and makes me smile every time I look in there!

Great pics, Maria. Great choice of color, Wilbur.

I've been a fan of the entire range of blue-green hues for many years and never get tired of seeing that color. Especially great with the pop of coral.

  • VictoriaArt says:

    Just sheer prettiness!
If you call BM's 'Blue Flower' a turquoise, then yes, but it is I guess more of a light blue….

    But I love turquoise always!

Love that guest room! When can I visit? Turquoise in my house? Oh yes. And on my front door and my clothing and jewelry. Maybe it's living in the Southwestern part of the US. But I'm over the SW look and trying to really update our home with splashes of turquoise with red and yellow.

  • Jane says:

Yes…my guest room is turquoise, too. And my artwork graces the walls…always changing.

I just painted my daughter's bedroom Benjamin Moore Icey Moondrops and the trim a bright white. I thought it would be an easy no-brainer, but there is A LOT of light in her room and it looks really pale and washed out. Not sure what to do to fix it. Haven't done the floors or headboard yet, so still chances to make it look as beautiful as this one!

  • Mary says:

    Wilbur,
Your room is going to look amazing once the headboard is installed. Make sure you have Maria post pictures of it.
I am adding more turquoise to my living room with new drapes and throw pillows. I can't wait till it's completed…the room will look much more alive.

  • Velvet and Linen says:

    Beautiful, Maria.
I'm going to enjoy my visit (hint, hint :))

No turquoise in my house yet Maria, but I would love to! Love the color pattern, with white and orange, makes the space feel so alive. Thanks for the inspiration!

  • Renae says:

I am just not fond of this color especially on the walls. I have a couple of toss pillows on one guest bed t hat has a wee bit, but overall, not my thing whether it's 'in' or not!

My bedroom walls are turquoise and I love it. Very fresh.

  • Jessa says:

I love that color..it's dreamy. I painted the ceiling in my little girls' room aqua and I love it. I'm going to have to think of somewhere to put some turquoise. Perhaps in my bedroom with some gray and white?
