How to Make your Brown Sofa Sing a Happy Tune

Now that gray is here to stay as the new brown, what do you do to make your brown sofa look more current? Can you introduce gray walls? What about all the bright and happy colours, how do you bring those in?

I can't tell you how happy I was to see this post and I am eager to see the newsletter because I am in this exact position right now. Do you have any paint color recommendations or will that be in the newsletter?

    Hello Maria,
Do you know Gretchen Ognethorpe, she just added some snappy pillows….which can always lift a brown or gray sofa,,,
    Love that room….ooh!
    Happy February-

Hi Maria, Wow–that's the perfect topic for me. I plan to make some pillows very similar to the ones shown..but they will be more yellow than gold. I can't wait for my newsletter! I'm off to finish cleaning as we are celebrating my birthday tomorrow. It's my 'present' to me. :O)

    Love,
    Donna

Love how this room looks – while I am not a bright colored girl – it really looks great with the pop of yellow. I think you can never go wrong with a brown sofa and just like gray – it's classic. I would be really worried if someone took a trendy color and put it on the sofa but any of the neutral colors are perfect because you can dress it up with pillows and change the feel. I think brown is classic and elegant – even though gray is the new think brown is like a pair of pearls or diamonds – always classy.

I have a grey couch & greyish brownish walls I used turquoise & silver to punch it up a little. You can check that out here:

Dress up the plain brown sofa? Easy.

Chocolate brown and raspberry fabric for the throw pillows and I'm done.

That room looks great! Funny how since I painted my walls grey (Just Walnut, Dulux), the brown leather sofas look so much better in the living room. Unfortunately, they are still too big for the space. I have pink ones coming to replace them! :)

Hi Maria: I think the bold graphic chairs and the sunshine yellow pair are what really kicks it up.
    Best,

What a great topic, Maria! I can't wait to hear what you say. I'm all about mixing the gray and the brown … as long as you do it the right way! ;-) Make sure your Atlanta students know just how lucky they are to be learning from you! :-)
